CFA head of investment management and a member of the firm’s executive committee Michelle Seitz said the launch of the Commodity Strategy Long/Short Fund illustrates how the firm strives to meet the needs of its clients by utilizing the strengths and experience of its teams.

"The William Blair Commodity Strategy Long/Short Fund is structured as a diverse portfolio which maintains the ability to profit in both up and down commodity markets," Seitz said.

"By providing exposure to commodity specialists in systematic strategies, fundamental strategies, and sector specific strategies, the Commodity Strategy Long/Short Fund expects to extract value from a wide variety of opportunities in the commodities markets."

According to the firm, the newly introduced long/short fund has been developed to provide extensive exposure to commodities and caters attractive risk-adjusted returns with low correlations to traditional asset classes.

Using a multi-manager approach, the actively managed fund provides exposure to between 6 and 15 commodity trading strategies, said the firm.

The fund’s portfolio managers include John Abunassar, Peter Carl, D Trowbridge "Toby" Elliman, III, Christopher Walvoord, and Brian C. Ziv, CFA. Messrs. Abunassar, Carl, Elliman, Walvoord, and Ziv are members of William Blair’s Hedge Fund of Funds Strategy Team.
