The platform, WU EDGE, will connect, empower and potentially deliver growth to businesses by giving them a simple global payments tool.

It intends to create a simple virtual trading arena allowing businesses of all sizes to connect with each other.

The platform combines accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows with electronic invoice presentment and payment.

Western Union said the platform gives actionable insights to help businesses navigate foreign exchange risks and opportunities emerging from international payments.

The new EDGE network payment feature adds to the customers’ existing abilities to make payments in over 130 currencies in more than 200 countries and territories.

Western Union Business Solutions president Kerry Agiasotis said: "WU EDGE technology will enable hundreds of thousands of businesses across the world to easily engage in global trade, potentially enabling them to grow, invest and deliver the jobs of the future.

Earlier this yesr, the Western Union Company launched online money transfer in Ukraine.

The company recently said it will launch remittance services from across the world into Cuba following US regulatory and policy changes that allow Cubans and non-Cubans to send remittances through Western Union to the island nation.
