The new relationship with the Nigerian firm has increased Western Union’s mobile money transfer network to 19 deployments in 17 nations across the globe.

eTranzact Mobile Money’s users in Nigeria, who use its mobile money platform will be able to receive WU Money Transfer transaction on their mobile phones.

Consumers can receive funds from money transfer transactions initiated at WU’s transactional websites in 23 countries, or its agent locations around the world.

Western Union Digital senior vice president and general manager Khalid Fellahi said that the new agreement will boost the number of access points for consumers to use its services globally and get mobile services for their money transfer needs.

Using eTranzact Mobile Money platform PocketMoni, customers can pay utility and cable television bills, make merchant payments, top-up their mobile phone credits and/or make third party transfers, after receipt of their funds through a WU Money Transfer transaction.

eTranzact managing director and CEO Valentine Obi said, "Adding Western Union money transfer capability to the platform is another step in building a comprehensive suite of mobile services, and enhances our customer value proposition."

The WU, Vigo and Orlandi Valuta branded services were offered through a combined network of nearly 520,000 agent locations in 200 countries and territories and approximately 115,000 ATMs, as of 30 June 2013.
