Based in London, Saffire will report to Sanjiv Sanghvi, head of Wells Fargo global banking group.

In the new role, he will be accountable to develop the global banking business across the region as the firm expands its international services for the US-based commercial and corporate customers trading in Europe, and for European companies operating in the US.

Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Saffire served at HSBC for 20 years and most recently acted as chief operating officer and head of international banking in Germany.

He has also worked as the regional president for HSBC commercial and corporate banking practice in 16 states across the Eastern and Midwestern US.

Operating as part of Wells Fargo International Group, the global banking division delivers financing options, risk and treasury management solutions, and trade finance services to middle market and large US and foreign owned companies.

Established in 1852 and headquartered in San Francisco, Wells Fargo had $1.4 trillion in assets, and provides banking, insurance, investments, mortgage, and consumer and commercial finance through more than 9,000 stores, 12,000 ATMs.
