Harvey was recently elected by the WFBI board of directors and was also approved by the Central Bank of Ireland.
According to Wells Fargo, he began work as CEO earlier this month and will be based in Dublin.
With more than 20 years of wholesale and international banking experience, Harvey is the former chief operating officer of the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region for Wachovia, where he managed business and regulatory activities for 20 business lines.
Wells Fargo International Group EVP and group head Richard Yorke said for the past four months, John successfully served as the interim CEO following the departure of Neil Ryan. Prior to his new role, John was also an integral part of Wells Fargo’s Cross Border Governance team.
"He brings a wealth of international banking and capital markets experience to his new position and we’re very pleased with his appointment," Yorke said.
