UnionPay partners with OPT Bank to expand card acceptance network in Hungary

This is the first time that UnionPay cooperates with a local financial institution in Hungary, to expand UnionPay card acceptance network in Hungary and Central Europe markets.

According to the agreement, 1800 pieces of ATM machines and 15000 POS machines of OPT Bank will open UnionPay card acceptance business in 2011, and OPT Bank will gradually deepen cooperation according to the market advantages of OPT Bank, improve acceptance environment, provide more quality and efficient card use service to UnionPay cardholders visiting Hungary.

Before this, UnionPay realized ATM cash withdrawal service in Hungary through the global cooperation with Citibank in 2006.

OTP Bank has more than 1400 branches in nine Central and Eastern European countries, over 4000 pieces of ATM machines and 56000 pieces of POS terminals.

The size and transaction volume of the bankcard acceptance network of OTP Bank accounts for 50% of the whole Hungary market.
