The partnership enables cardholders to use their UnionPay cards in UAE.

UnionPay executive vice president Cai Jianbo said that UnionPay is actively promoting the deep cooperation with NI and other institutions in accordance with the principle of ‘joint development, win-win cooperation and sharing achievements’, so as to enable wider use of UnionPay cards in the UAE and other Middle East area and better satisfy the card use demand of cardholders.
Emirates NBD COO and NI chairman Abdulla Qassem said that NI would like to continue to deepen the cooperation with UnionPay and jointly open more merchants to provide quality card use services to UnionPay cardholders. In the meanwhile, NI would like to further discuss conducting UnionPay card business cooperation in wider business fields in more countries with UnionPay.
NI provides card issuance and acquiring services in many countries in the Mid East and Africa and it’s also one of the largest merchant acquiring institution in the UAE, with nearly 30,000 POS terminals in the UAE.
