The card does not have a magnetic stripe or signature panel. The card provides cardholders the freedom to purchase online from any website that allows the use of MasterCard cards for payment.

Customers can set their own limit for the internet card through UNB’s online banking service (UNINET) or by calling the 24/7 call centre. The new internet card will enable clients to shop safely online without having to type in their credit card number.

Further, the card features a MasterCard SecureCode program, a global e-commerce security solution. To ensure enhanced security, MasterCard SecureCode is a private code given to cardholders to protect them against unauthorized use of the UNB internet card when shopping online.

The code needs to be activated before completing the transaction in order to ensure maximum protection against online fraud. The code is managed by UNB Hosted Service and is never shared with any other party. This feature is a new service provided to enhance the shopping experience for MasterCard cardholders and give them peace of mind.

Mohammad Ali SVP and head of UNB Group communications at Union National Bank, said: “As the bank that cares, we believe in providing our customers with tailored financial solutions that meet their various needs and add extra value to their daily transactions. The new internet card is a safe, flexible, and a rewarding option for shopping online and will further add to the convenience of our customers while upholding the highest safety standards.

“MasterCard SecureCode delivers enhanced protection against the risk of fraudsters using their credit account number in cyberspace,” said Eyad Al-Kourdi, vice president and country manager, Southern Gulf – UAE, Qatar & Oman, MasterCard Worldwide. “Online shoppers will benefit from knowing that only they have access to their personal SecureCode, the key to using their card on the internet,” reported the web site.

The UNB internet card also offers customers benefits such as reward points. Customers can earn 1 UNB reward point when making a purchase with their card online.
