UniCredit is set to revamp its organisational structure by consolidating all domestic operations, from small businesses to large multinationals into a single corporate division.
The Italian bank intends to further simplify and enhance its service model to bring all its business banking operations under centralised management.
UniCredit said that its service for large customers will remain the same, without any changes, but will strengthen its geographical coverage for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB).
The bank said that the restructuring aims to provide SMBs with access to value-added products and services developed by the new Corporate Solutions division.
UniCredit Italy head Niccolò Ubertalli said: “With the country engaged in the post-pandemic recovery, we want to make a major contribution to improving the competitiveness of our economy.
“We will achieve this by providing even more effective support to businesses through a service model that is completely focused on their needs, a team of first-class professionals, outstanding product quality, the most advanced digital solutions, and a task force dedicated to the NRPP.”
The new Corporate Solutions business will be led by the group’s Italy corporate operations head Massimiliano Mastalia.
Reporting to Mastalia, Francesco Iannella will lead the small business segment for companies with a turnover of €1m to €50m.
Lucio Izzi will lead the corporate channel, with companies generating up to €1bn in revenues.
In addition, Marica Campilongo will lead the Large Corporate Italy Network (previously called Investment Banking division), reporting to Mastalia.
Heads of CRM, Corporate Lending for structured finance, and the Foreign Trade Centres for international business will appoint the segment managers, said the company.
Mastalia added: “Our UniCredit Unlocked plan calls for an increase in lending support, particularly for small and medium enterprises, which we want to help with the energy and digital transition.
“And that is all in keeping with our ambition to provide the communities in which we operate with the levers to progress.”
