In his new role Donnan will take on responsibility for running the Ulster Bank retail markets business across the island of Ireland.
Donnan takes over the role from Mike Bamber who has recently taken up an appointment as managing director of branch banking for NatWest and RBS Retail in Great Britain.
Donnan has over 22 years experience in the financial services industry having joined Ulster Bank in 1989.
He has held a number of senior roles including regional manager in both personal and business banking in Northern Ireland, and most recently as managing director of personal banking across the island of Ireland.
Ulster Bank CEO Cormac McCarthy said Donnan brings with him a broad range of experience from his time spent in various senior roles across the business which will be hugely valuable in his new position.
