Swiss bank which has had its North American headquarters in Stamford for the past 15 years is contemplating relocation because it is having trouble recruiting young bankers who apparently would rather live in Manhattan.

Swiss bank is currently negotiating for space at 3 World Trade Center, an 80-story office tower planned for Lower Manhattan, according to media reports.

UBS, just like any other business that moved to the World Trade Center, would get tax breaks and sweetners.

Media reports also suggest that UBS has hired real estate services company CB Richard Ellis Group to find space and is looking for one million square feet of space.

The move could trigger bidding war between Connecticut and New York City, both eager for the Swiss banks’ tax revenue.
