Huntington consumer and business banking director Mary Navarro said the step will allow the firm to develop its own suite of credit cards for consumers and businesses and forms a part of Huntington’s overall strategy centered on convenience, and provides additional payment solutions for its customers.
"We feel that our industry-leading technology and renowned customer service are what Huntington is looking for in order to create and maintain a successful and profitable credit card program," Woods added.
According to the agreement, Huntington will provide its cards through partnership with MasterCard, and expects to roll out the business card in June 2013, and soon after it will introduce the consumer card, said the firm.
TSYS will also cater Huntington with fraud prevention services, card and statement production and customer service support, besides processing services for both the consumer and business cards.
Huntington manages $56bn of assets and operates 660 local branches with the help of 11,000 employees.
