As per the agreement, Trunkbow will develop a UnionPay-certified plug-in applet that will help m-commerce transactions through UnionPay’s clearing system.
The applet can be incorporated into an individual mobile application or app store to facilitate convibient, secure online payments from a user’s mobile phone.
Trunkbow CEO Qiang Li said the Trunkbow UnionPay mobile payment applet provides customers with an alternative to card-based transactions thereby greatly enhancing their merchant acquisition capabilities.
The two companies will also work together to develop and extend the Trunkbow UnionPay merchant network, and market the m-commerce solution to mobile phone users.
The applet is expected to be launched in January 2012 and Trunkbow will receive a percentage of the gross value on ea¬ch transaction processed through the applet, as negotiated with individual merchants.
