Thomas Cook, a global provider of leisure and travel services, has introduced four new versions of its Cash Passport prepaid cards, the plastic traveller’s cheque. The company said that these cards are now available in New Zealand dollars, Australian dollars, Canadian dollars and the South African rand.

Thomas Cook said that the currency can be simply loaded onto the cards, which can then be used like a debit card in shops, restaurants and to withdraw cash at ATMs. It claimed that these cards are already available in the Euro, the US Dollar and Sterling, Cash Passports have no purchase fee and overseas currencies can be loaded commission-free. They are a practical option for gap year travellers, as a second card can be left with family at home, who can load money on to the card if funds get low.

Pete Constanti, CEO of Mainstream Travel at Thomas Cook UK & Ireland, said: “Thomas Cook is providing holiday money solutions so we are constantly looking at developing new and convenient currency solutions for our customers.”
