Symantec has released Managed Endpoint Protection Services, a new set of offerings, which, the company claims, provides management and monitoring of endpoint protection technologies to defend users against malware and other attacks, such as, rootkits, zero-day attacks and spyware.

According to the company, the new managed services leverage the customers’ existing endpoint protection technologies, Symantec security experts, and its Global Intelligence Network to secure customer, employee and corporate data, while helping IT departments with the configuration and availability of their endpoint protection technologies.

The company said that it expects to provide respite for IT departments from increasing threats and staffing challenges, with its new offering; it is composed of deployment, management, and monitoring for endpoint protection technologies, including its AntiVirus, its Endpoint Protection and its Network Access Control. These services are expected to allow enterprises to secure information and manage endpoint risks.

Additionally, its Endpoint Protection Monitoring reportedly extends remote security monitoring and correlation to critical endpoint protection systems. Security events affecting protected endpoints are identified, analysed and escalated for remediation.

The company stated that its Endpoint Protection Management protects data from threats by transferring management of the endpoint protection systems to its security experts. This offloads the management burden from in-house security and infrastructure staff and ensures that endpoint protection systems are updated to provide proactive protection.
