The Japanese bank said that the representative office will enable the bank to more effectively gather information in India, to offer enhanced, comprehensive services to clients.
SMBC said it will continue to provide commercial banking services to its Japanese clients throguh SCB Japan Desk under the business partnership with Standard Chartered Bank.
Meanwhile, it will cooperate with Kotak Mahindra Bank to develop new business opportunities in asset management alternate assets, securities and investment banking business.
