Daniel Cheever has been appointed as head of superannuation for State Street’s Global Services business Australia, while Richard Coia as head of sales and client management based in Melbourne.

Cheever was an integral member of the team that in January secured a long-term mandate to provide a comprehensive range of services to REST Industry Super, Australia’s largest super fund by membership.

Cheever also played a key role in recent years managing State Street’s relationship with NGS Super.

Coia will join with 17 years of sales and relationship management experience to the new role, most recently working with National Australia Bank’s asset servicing division.

The responsibilities of the Coia include executing State Street’s sales strategy with a focus on large industry funds, superannuation funds and investment managers.

Coia will have a joint reporting line to head of sales, Greg O’Sullivan, and head of client relationship management, Stephanie Lanigan.

Cheever, who has been a relationship manager at State Street for the past seven years, assumes direct responsibility for the ongoing direction and strategy around the organization’s efforts to expand its servicing presence in the Australian superannuation market.

Ian Martin, senior vice president, head of State Street’s Global Services business in the South East Asia and Pacific region and head of Global Markets business in Australia and New Zealand, said the appointments were indicative of State Street’s growing focus on the superannuation market in Australia.

"The appointments also reflect the organization’s ongoing efforts to achieve its corporate goal of doubling non-US revenue over the next five years," Martin said.
