The latest appointment follows the Northern Trust’s recent statement that it provides custody and related services to 36% of the Local Government Pension Schemes in the UK.

Northern Trust senior sales and relationship manager for securities lending Mark Snowdon said that Shropshire County Pension Fund has been a client of Northern Trust’s since 1999, and Northern Trust is delighted to support their securities lending requirements.

Shropshire Council treasury manager Justin Bridges said that Shropshire is looking for a lending solution that would enable it to optimize returns within the context of thoughtful risk management.

"Northern Trust has also demonstrated its expertise and experience in the Local Government Pensions Scheme sector, and as our custodian has worked closely with us to develop solutions that meet our evolving requirements," Bridges said.
