Commenting on the deal, SelectCore president Keith McKenzie said, "Having been chosen by MasterCard speaks to the quality of our service, technology and capabilities."

"This further exemplifies SelectCore as a leader in the Canadian payments space," McKenzie added.

Set up in 1999, SelectCore delivers an array of prepaid products and services from stored-value cards to mobile top-up that provide financial empowerment and inclusion to a market of millions of under-banked consumers.

MasterCard payments processing network connects consumers, financial institutions, merchants, governments and businesses in more than 210 countries and geographies.

Most recently, the company appointed M2M SPS as its new principal member in Morocco, in a bid to boost the electronic payments acceptance infrastructure in the country, where it is also planning to roll out its contactless payment technology.
