Through this cooperation, UnionPay and Sacombank expands the local acceptance network of UnionPay card and also provides new payment options to Vietnamese cardholders through issuing UnionPay cards.
UnionPay said that these cards can not only be used at ATMs and merchants in Vietnam, but also could be used in the UnionPay network in over 90 countries and regions worldwide.
UnionPay executive vice president Cai Jianbo said the cooperation between UnionPay and Sacombank to open four business activities at one time, including ATM acceptance, POS acceptance of UnionPay card, debit card and prepaid card issuance, as well as the issuing of the first local UnionPay card in Vietnam, is an important progress that UnionPay card business has achieved in Vietnam.
Sacombank deputy general manager Nguyen Thanh Phong said Sacombank will take the chance to continuously deepen the cooperation with UnionPay in multiple fields. The UnionPay debit card and prepaid card issued this time by Sacombank are not only oriented towards local Chinese and business travelers frequently going back and forth between China and Vietnam, but also customers visiting Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.
Sacombank plans to launch UnionPay credit card products early next year to further enrich its UnionPay card products portfolio and satisfy the diversified card use demands of customers, Thanh Phong added.
