Based in Russell’s New York office, Spencer will be responsible for directing the development and implementation of alternative investment strategies for the company’s consulting clients in North America.
With this appointment, Russell now has regional consulting alternative directors in the Americas, EMEA, Australasia and Japan/Northeast Asia.
Previously, Spencer worked as a director for a boutique hedge fund of fund provider in the US and as global head of alternative investments for Aon Investment Consulting.
He was a chief architect of Aon’s alternative investment research process and also a primary consultant on alternative investing for Aon’s North American consulting clients.
Russell Investments global head of consulting and advisory services Janine Baldridge said Russell will continue to scale up and leverage its alternative expertise on a global scale.
"Darren will be a key contributor as Russell advises consulting clients on alternative strategies, bringing in his own expertise and that of the global alternatives team members in research and consulting," Baldridge said.
