The expansion of ATM branding relationship with Cardtronics will boost the Canadian lender’s network in Mexico to include more than 2,000 machines across the country, which will be accessible to accountholders for free.

Scotiabank Mexico retail banking senior vice president Carlos Lomeli said that the company was focused on expanding its ATM network in the country, with an aim to enable its customers to offer quick, easy and convenient access to their cash.

"We want to be where our customers are and having ATMs in high traffic locations like convenience stores helps ensure that our customers can find us where and when they need us," Lomeli added.

Recently, Scotiabank has expanded its ATM footprint in North America by adding more than 1,100 ATMs, including 150 in Puerto Rico, and nearly 480 in Canada.

Commenting on the agreement, Cardtronics North America business group president Rick Updyke said the bank inked its first ATM branding agreement in 2010.

"Now, an ATM branding relationship which brought together Scotiabank and Cardtronics less than three years ago in Puerto Rico has expanded twice and today encompasses more than 1,100 ATMs spread across three North American countries," Updyke added.

Having a strong work force of over 82,000 employees, Scotiabank and its affiliates serve some 19 million customers in over 55 nations across the globe and delivers personal, commercial, corporate and investment banking services.

Cardtronics owns/operates more than 62,800 retail ATMs in US and international locations.
