The launch of online consumer banking is part of Opel’s plan to add more potential customers and meet its refinancing needs through new deposits.

Opel plans to introduce consumer banking in other European markets, based on the success of the retail banking operations in Germany.

In April 2013, Opel re-launched lending and financing operations after GM Financial purchased back the European and other international operations that were sold during the financial crisis.

Currently, Opel’s in-house banking service is used by around 200,000 customers for car loans or leases.

Adam Opel is a German automobile manufacturer that designs, engineers, manufactures and distributes Opel-branded passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles and vehicle parts for distribution in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.
