The bank stated that basic earnings per share were 95.8 cents for the half year to September 30, 2007, a 26% increase compared to 75.9 cents in the same period of 2006.
In Retail Republic of Ireland, profit before tax was E381 million against E339 million in the corresponding period of 2006. In Bank of Ireland Life profit before tax was E72 million against E67 million of the same period in 2006. In capital markets, profit before tax was E309 million compared to E286 million in the same period of 2006. In UK financial services, profit before tax was E257 million against E222 million in the corresponding period of 2006.
