Prior to Nomura’s acquisition of Lehman Brothers’ Asian business in late 2008, Mr Schiffman was head of Asia-Pacific investment banking at the New York-based bank. He also served as a member of the Asia executive committee and helped to successfully complete the deal.

Colin Banfield and Patrick Schmitz-Morkramer will take over Mr Schiffman’s responsibilities as joint heads of investment for Asia excluding Japan.

Mr Banfield is currently Nomura’s head of mergers and acquisitions for Asia excluding Japan and Mr Morkramer is the head of investment banking for Germany and Austria.

Minoru Shinohara, CEO of Asia excluding Japan, said in an internal memo that to ensure a successful transition, Mr Schiffman would continue in his role in Asia through to March 31.
