NCR Corporation (NCR) has secured orders for approximately 6,000 automated teller machines (ATMs) from China’s five commercial banks (Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and Bank of Communications).

NCR claimed that the new ATM family NCR SelfServ featuring ‘self-healing’ capability has earned customer recognition and is widely deployed nationwide. It has also achieved positive results from small and mid-sized banks.

In addition to SelfServ 22 and SelfServ 25, NCR has also rolled out two new models, NCR SelfServ 31 and SelfServ 36 to the local market in April. These two new machines enable deposit and recycling capacity per square foot for exterior or through-the-wall installations and are designed to deal with extreme weather experienced in China.

Patrick Chou, president of NCR North Asia, said: “Our achievement has further demonstrated banks’ recognition for NCR’s financial self-service solutions. At the turn of the global economic downturn, our customers have clearly put more emphasis on building their self-service channels and have recognized how crucial the role of self-service channels will be playing in meeting their business needs.

“We are also delighted in receiving positive feedbacks from our customers upon their widespread deployment of the new NCR SelfServTM ATM family. It has truly proven that the NCR SelfServTM ATM represents the best of its breed in the ATM industry which are able to deliver outstanding performances in availability, usability, security, manageability and environmental-friendliness.”
