Ford will work across all business divisions and will report to Gregory Fleming, president of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and president of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, and to Paul Taubman, co-president of Institutional Securities.

The former Congressman will be responsible for building business opportunities for clients with Morgan Stanley and helping client teams at the firm deliver financial advice and products most effectively. He will manage relationships with corporate directors and senior executives, institutional investors, as well as private clients.

He will join Morgan Stanley from Bank of America where he was a vice chairman and senior policy advisor for four years.

Ford served in Congress from 1996 to 2007 as a Democrat from the 9th district of Tennessee. He served as a member of the House Budget Committee and the Financial Services Committee as well as a member and leader of the Blue Dog Democrats.

Fleming said that consistent with the focus on providing clients with the best advice and long-term value, Harold will play an important role in executing a key business strategy at Morgan Stanley.

Taubman said that Harold’s experience in public policy, the national budget and financial services, makes him a valuable addition to the client franchise.
