According to Monitise, the centre will create 40 jobs, with the potential for more in the future.

The centre will focus on the development and testing of mobile banking, payments and commerce services.

Monitise said it chose Wales as its new location because of the expertise within local universities including the University of Glamorgan’s Centre of Excellence in Mobile Applications and Services, which already works with a number of key players in the mobile industry.

Monitise chief executive Alastair Lukies said as they broaden their services to additional partners and clients he is delighted to see their innovative technology centre in Wales open for business.

"Career opportunities for talented individuals entering today’s mobile banking world have broadened dramatically and this new development marks an important chapter in our continuing growth," Lukies said.
