In order to take a lead position in the development of a global technology platform and to support payment and mobile commerce services, Monitise will balance the existing technology partners, based on the agreement.
Leveraging its Bank Anywhere, Pay Anyone and Buy Anything product suite, Monitise’s ecosystem connects hundreds of organizations from banking, payments, mobile, merchants and media to millions of consumers across the globe.
The partnership with Telefónica will use Monitise’s mobile payments and shopping technology and initially, both companies have agreed to concentrate on the UK market.
As part of its strategy announced in December 2012 to tap mobile commerce opportunities, Monitise inked a new three-year deal with Visa Europe to develop and deploy Mobile Money payments and commerce solutions for Europe’s leading financial institutions in March.
Many banks, payments companies, retailers and mobile networks use Monitise’s technology platforms and services to securely connect people with their money.
Telefónica Digital operates as the global innovation arm of Telefónica, which has more than 316 million subscribers in 24 countries.
