Metavante Corporation has certified the Panini I:Deal, the latest check scanning platform from Panini. The combination of Metavante’s Direct Merchant solution and the Panini I:Deal check scanner is expected to offer a remote deposit capture (RDC) solution for the burgeoning small business market.

Metavante has said that its Direct Merchant solution delivers distributed capture directly to the small businesses. Small businesses could capture images of check payments at their location and electronically deliver the images to their financial institution for processing, thus eliminating the need to physically transport the checks.

Paul Danola, president, Metavante Image Solutions, said: “The Panini I:Deal is compact, affordable and easy to operate, meeting the main criteria of the small business market. The I:Deal is designed to operate in a variety of small business markets making it an excellent choice to deploy with Metavante’s Direct Merchant solution.”

Doug Roberts, president, Panini North America, commented: “With the economic landscape becoming increasingly challenging, companies are feeling the pressure and must find new ways to improve productivity and cut costs,” adds. “We are pleased to partner with Metavante to provide small businesses with a product designed specifically for their payment processing needs.”

Wisconsin-based Metavante Technologies is the parent company of Metavante Corporation. Metavante Technologies provides processing services for gift, money share, and prepaid cards to payment providers.

Founded in Turin, Italy, Panini’s check capture solutions address distributed check processing opportunities including teller capture, back-counter capture, corporate capture, cash vault, microfilm replacement and remittance processing.
