Malaysian Electronic Payment System (MEPS), a interbank network switching provider, has declared that its Interbank GIRO process has been awarded compliance status with the Payment Card Industry – Data Security Standard 1.2 (PCI DSS).

The firm has said that the PCI DSS is a set of best practices defined by the PCI Security Standards Council, covering 12 industry-wide requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical protective, in order to safeguard sensitive data in particular customer data.

The certification recognizes that MEPS’ policies, procedures and systems uses the best practices and guidelines to protect sensitive customer data and minimize risk of financial losses.
