MBNA Europe, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of America, has launched its United Mileage Plus American Express Credit Card, a new credit card with United Airlines.

The company has said that the card offers a competitive rate of interest plus travel rewards through the award-winning United Mileage Plus programme.

The new United Mileage Plus American Express Credit Card from MBNA is being launched with a special offer for applications received before April 30, 2009: two miles for every GBP1 spent on purchases using the card for the first six months after the account is opened. After this, card members will earn a standard one mile for every GBP1 spent on purchases using the card, added MBNA.

The new United Mileage Plus American Express Credit Card from MBNA offers 0% pa on balance transfers for the first 12 months from the date the account is opened (3% handling fee applies), plus 0% on card purchases for the first three months. A typical rate of 15.9% APR variable applies.

Greg Reed, president of card at MBNA for UK, said: MBNA is delighted to link up with United Airlines to offer this competitive card programme. Card members can earn Mileage Plus miles with both United and their partner airlines, so this card programme is of real benefit to frequent travellers.
