The Net current account-i, an Islamic internet-based current account in Malaysia, is an online current account. The new account offers a check facility, other online features and multi-tiered dividend rates, which are calculated daily and credited monthly. In addition to these features, principal account holders will have personal accident coverage of up to RM50,000, medical benefits of RM1,500 and funeral benefits of RM1,000.
Maybank has also introduced HomeEquity-i and ShophouseEquity-i, for residences and business premises, which will be available from September 17, 2007.
En Hassan, head of Islamic banking at Maybank, said: This type of financing concept does not involve purchase of property by the bank and subsequent re-sale to a customer. Therefore it requires less documentation, which translates into less hassle when applying for financing. The pricing is also competitive to conventional financing packages.
