Under the new brand, the mobile payment services will be connected to a mobile wallet or prepaid account which will allow users to transfer money, recharge mobile airtime, pay bills and carry retail purchases.

Consumers can easily access the mobile wallet and prepaid accounts anytime, anywhere across the globe, said the firm.

Wanda claims that its mobile payment solution will provide convenient, ease and accessibility along with the security, reliability and unsurpassed acceptance of electronic payment systems, through an open model, while ensuring interoperability between the unbanked and banked segments.

Wanda inked an agreement with Mobile Payment Solutions (MPS) to offer the mobile payment services in 12 markets, while developing and implementing the mobile wallet technology and its services.

Telefonica Digital global head of financial services Joaquin Mata said Wanda and its newly appointed team will focus on offering a complete set of innovative mobile payment solutions that will give access to financial services to the unbanked population in the region.
