The desk, operated by representatives of Bank of China and Mashreq, will offer corporate banking solutions to Chinese companies and organizations operating in the Gulf region, and UAE companies looking to do business in China.
Mashreq said the primary objective of the desk is to assist Chinese companies in expanding their footprint overseas as well as local investors looking to make their mark in China.
Bank of China has overseas network covering over 30 countries and regions. The set-up of a China Desk in the UAE will facilitate tailor-made financial products and services to them by partnering in synergy with Mashreq.
Mashreq will offer Chinese companies a range of products and services including account services, trade finance facilities, and advisory service concerning the local industrial and legal framework.
Bank of China head of global trade services Cheng Jun said that the platform enables Bank of China to access the local Chinese companies by working in synergy with Mashreq to offer a wider and better range of services.
"Our bond will be further enhanced with joint marketing to both local Chinese companies and UAE companies wishing to explore the Chinese market," Jun said.
