He was most recently global head of HSBC’s Global Transaction Banking, a position he has held for the last four years.

Appointed an HSBC Group general manager in 2008, Long has been with the HSBC Group for more than 30 years.

He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having held a number of senior positions across the Group, including serving as chief operating officer, HSBC Asia Pacific, head of operations and processing for Asia Pacific, and regional head of payments and cash management in Asia and trade services in Europe.

HSBC Egypt chairman Abdel Salam El Anwar said with significant senior banking experience and a strong track record, Andrew’s appointment demonstrates the HSBC Group’s commitment and investment in Egypt, a strategically important market for the Group, and for the region.

"His breadth of expertise will complement a strong management team, as they continue to deliver world-class HSBC solutions and services to Egyptian consumers and businesses," El Anwar said.
