Both Leenart and Derman will report to Emilio Saracho, head of Investment Banking for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Expressing continued commitment to the region, Saracho said they have made no secret about their expansion plans and they are confident that Sjoerd and Emre will continue to grow and maximise opportunities in those markets.

The executives will be responsible for building and managing J.P. Morgan’s regional presence across lines of business, including the investment bank, asset management, treasury & securities services and the global corporate bank.

Leenart most recently co-headed J.P. Morgan’s Debt Capital Markets and Sales & Marketing for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

Derman joins J.P. Morgan after spending 18 years at law firm White & Case in Istanbul and London as a senior associate and partner, managing the Istanbul office achieving record fiscal performance and growth.

The responsibilities held by Murad Megalli, the former head of the region who died in a plane accident earlier this year, will now be taken care of by the two executives.
