Jefferies received Category 4 license that will allow the firm to operate as an authorized entity from the DIFC.

The company hired George Azar as managing director and senior executive officer of Jefferies International, Dubai branch.

In addition, Imran Ahmed has also joined Jefferies as a senior vice president and an advisor in the firms’ wealth management group.

Jefferies chairman and CEO Richard Handler said that the company is delighted to be basing itself at DIFC to be closer to its clients, including corporates and institutions across the Middle East.

"We look forward to delivering to them Jefferies’ full range of investment banking and asset management services under the stewardship of George Azar, who is a highly respected and experienced professional with strong relationships across the region," Handler said.
