He will be based in the firm’s New York office.
Peterson will join Jefferies from PIMCO, where he was a portfolio manager focused in municipals as a senior vice president. Previously, he spent over10 years with Goldman Sachs, and was most recently a vice president on that firm’s municipal trading desk.
Jefferies’ municipal securities group is comprised of over 100 executives focused on the banking, sales and trading of municipal securities. With professionals across the US, Jefferies offers access and coverage in all areas of public finance.
Jefferies head of municipal markets James McGinley said that Peterson’s considerable product experience, solid relationships and proven track record will complement the existing team as Jefferies continue to build the municipal securities business to better serve our clients.
Jefferies said that currently the fixed income business has nearly 525 professionals globally who are focused on the sales and trading of investment grade corporate bonds, high yield bonds, government and agency securities, repo finance, mortgage- and asset-backed securities, municipal bonds, whole loans, leveraged loans, distressed securities and emerging markets debt.
