Apart from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and the UK, Netherlands will also have the status of one of its home markets, the lender said.

Handelsbanken Netherlands operations head Mikael Sørensen said that the bank seeks to benefit from major opportunities offered in the country for continued growth.

The lender has been trading for over ten years in the country and presently manages 15 offices from Groningen in the north to Maastricht in the south and from Twente in the east to Rotterdam and Amsterdam in the west.

At present, the bank has employed 105 staff in the Netherlands and provided a total of SEK14bn in loans to corporate and private customers at end of 2012.
