US-based bank, through its private-equity arm Goldman Sachs Principal Investment, sold 9.5 million shares in Hana Financial Group.

Goldman first bought new shares issued when Hana Bank converted into a financial holding company in 2005 and had a 7.5% stake in the Korean company after a $1 billion rights issue by Hana Financial in December 2010.

In April 2011, Goldman sold its 3.1% stake in Hana Financial.

The exit of Goldman Sachs investment from Hana Financial comes as the Korean firm completes its acquisition of a 57.27% stake in Korea Exchange Bank from American private equity group Lone Star.
