Currently, GMP Capital owns nearly 35% of the firm, James Richardson and Sons around the same, and the Richardson GMP partners and employees own 30%.

About a year and a half ago, wealth management arms of GMP Capital and Richardson Partners Financial were merged to form Richardson GMP.

Andrew Marsh, chief executive of Richardson GMP in an interview with Reuters said that after 2014, the plan is that their public shares will be GMP Capital shares and they will be a division of GMP Capital.

"At that point, we’ll be a pretty interesting company, with diversified holdings in capital markets, investment management and wealth management, with strength in Canada, but with growth around the world," Marsh said.
