He will spearhead the whole management of GFI’s business and continue to serve as a member of the board of directors.

Commenting on Heffron’s appointment, GFI Group executive chairman said Colin has succeeded in every role and executive capacity he has undertaken and has demonstrated extraordinary leadership as Group president.

Having joined GFI Group in 1988 as a broker of foreign currency options in New York, he relocated to London to help set up GFI Group’s London office.

From 1994 to 1997, he managed the group’s currency options business and supervised the day-today operations of all GFI’s European businesses.

During 1998 to February 2004, he served as head of all operations in Europe and joint-head of Asian operations. In February 2004, he was named as the president of the company.
