According to UK government statistics, by the start of 2007, an estimated 375,000 Poles had registered to work in the UK, although the total Polish speaking population in the country is believed to be 750,000.

The website allows Polish speakers to gain access to comprehensive information on bank accounts provided by Lloyds TSB, NatWest, HSBC and Barclays, and is specifically targeted at Polish speakers new to the UK.

These accounts are designed to meet the specific needs of Poles, who may encounter difficulties opening bank accounts in the UK for the first time and who are seeking low-cost money transfer services to remit funds to their families in Poland.

The website also offers additional information in relation to the high street banks’ provision of credit cards, mortgages and loans, which can be difficult to obtain without a credit history.

Kate Marsden, marketing director at Find.co.uk commented: This is just the first of a number of initiatives we intend to provide for foreign language speakers in the UK, who may struggle with financial jargon and the documentation needed to open a bank account. We intend to follow this up with other similar initiatives, in keeping with Find.co.uk’s pioneering track record in the provision of comprehensive financial services data.
