The office will be led by Sammy Lai, who will work alongside Bill Snyder, head of Duff & Phelps Shanghai and the firm’s international operations leader Henk Oosterhout.

Duff & Phelps chief executive officer Noah Gottdiener said that the new Beijing office will assist clients make sound decisions in a key hub of Chinese government and state-owned enterprise.

Lai has earlier worked as Greater China practice leader and managing director for the financial advisory services arm of Marsh and in his new role will help the firm in generating cross-selling opportunities for its team in Asia and beyond.

He has also spent five years specializing in project financing for two public companies in the power industry.

Duff & Phelps is also expanding its business in Canada and UK.
