Sources familiar with the matter were quoted by the Bloomberg news agency as saying that the agreement is expected to be announced by next week.

Operating as an alternative investment company and managing almost $10.5bn, Investcorp acquired Skrill for €105m in 2007, and purchased an Austrian firm paysafecard.com Wertkarten, for €140m in 2012, with strategies to consolidate position in online banking business.

Skrill, formerly known as Moneybookers, operates in 200 nations and regions, and delivers 100 local payment alternatives and 40 currencies.

Most recently, CVC announced that the funds advised by CVC have agreed to acquire British home appliance insurer Domestic & General from Advent International in the US.
