Citi’s global transaction services business for Europe, the Middle East and Africa has extended its global platform for commercial card issuance into Romania. Citi has selected Unilever, a supplier of consumer goods across foods, and home and personal care categories, for the purpose.

This is the fifth market in Central and Eastern Europe that Citi has launched its global card offering in this year. In June 2009, Citi had also extended its offering of global commercial cards product to four markets in Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.

Manish Kohli, head of wholesale cards for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Citi, said: “Our continued investment and expansion further reinforces our commercial card position as a dynamic tool and delivery platform and the top choice for our existing clients, as well as new international and local clients in these markets. We feel this move demonstrates our unrivalled ability to support our clients. Citi clients will benefit from innovative program reporting, dedicated client service teams and award-winning customer service.”

Paul Morris of Unilever travel & expense for Europe, Middle East & Africa, said: “Citi is extending its footprint to meet the needs of global clients such as ourselves. As a result of this new offering, we are able to expand our own program with ease and integrate Citi’s commercial card solution with our expense management system through a single source.”
