Mr Zink’s responsibilities include overseeing the institutional clients group, consumer banking and global cards, and global wealth management businesses in Singapore. He will report to Shirish Apte, CEO of Citi Asia Pacific.

Mr Zink, joined Citi in 1988, He is currently president and executive director of the Guangdong Development Bank (GDB) and will continue to hold this position until his successor is announced.

Mr Zink assumed his GDB role in December 2006, when a Citi-led consortium purchased 85% stake in the Chinese lender. He worked closely with Citi’s consortium partners, local regulators and the GDB management team to modernise GDB’s business model, operations, risk management framework and technology platforms.

Prior to that role, Mr Zink was senior executive vice president and executive director of Citibank Korea from 2004 to 2006. He led the corporate and investment banking business in Korea after the integration of Citibank Seoul into KorAm Bank, which was acquired by Citi in 2004.

Mr Apte said: “Mr Zink is a Citi veteran who is well qualified to lead Citi’s significant businesses in Singapore. He has strong international experience with Citi covering all the major markets such as Russia, Indonesia, Korea and more recently China. Singapore is a high priority market for Citi and is a regional hub for operations and technology and treasury business.”
