Citi has appointed Richard Cookson as chief investment officer for Citi Private Bank. He will be responsible for shaping investment strategy and thought leadership across the Private Bank’s global platform and will chair its global investment steering committee. He will report to Jane Fraser, chief executive officer of Citi Private Bank.

Mr Cookson joins from HSBC, where he was MD and global head of asset allocation research, responsible for global macro investment strategy and asset allocation recommendations for developing and emerging equities, government bonds, investment grade and high-yield credit and commodities.

Citi also said that Alex Godwin will join the Private Bank as global head of asset allocation. He will report to Mr Cookson and be responsible for guiding and setting all aspects of asset allocation as well as translating Citi Private Bank’s investment themes into offerings and solutions for clients. He will also join the global investment steering committee.

Mr Godwin joins from Lombard Odier where he was global head of portfolio investment. Prior to that, he was head of portfolio analysis and solutions for Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management.
