Chase, a consumer and commercial banking brand of JPMorgan Chase, has added 223 former Washington Mutual bank branches to its tri-state network, by adding 2.4 million deposit accounts to the company’s platform. This enables the Chase consumers and business customers to access more than 1,000 branches and 3,150 ATMs, branded with the bright blue Chase octagon in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Reportedly, Chase’s Tri-State network includes: 377 branches and 1,863 ATMs in New York City, 224 branches and 433 ATMs in New Jersey, 194 branches and 415 ATMs in Long Island, 167 branches and 292 ATMs in Northern NY suburbs, 46 branches and 77 ATMs in Connecticut and 41 branches and 78 ATMs in Upstate New York.

In September 2008, parent company JPMorgan Chase acquired Washington Mutual’s banking operations. The bank said that it has invested $139.5 million in refurbishing and rebranding the 223 former WaMu branches and 588 ATMs in the tri-state area.

The bank claimed that so far this year, Chase has converted and rebranded 1,037 former WaMu branches in 11 states. It expects by the end of 2009, about 1,800 former WaMu branches across the country will be operating under the Chase brand allowing customers to conduct their business at more than 5,100 Chase branches in 23 states.
